Financial Wellbeing Program for Jobs-Focused Social Enterprises - Cycle 2 Evaluation Report

Summary

This report by CSI Swinburne shares findings from the second year of an evaluation of White Box Enterprises’ Financial Wellbeing Program, funded by Ecstra Foundation. The Financial Wellbeing Program is delivered to jobs-focused social enterprises in Australia, with the aim of supporting social enterprises to provide tailored training to enhance social enterprise employees’ financial knowledge, confidence and skills.

The second year of this evaluation found consistent success factors within the program, including:

  • excellent foundational content;
  • involvement of people with lived experience in program co-design; and
  • quality of facilitation

As part of the second year of the Financial Wellbeing Program, White Box Enterprises worked with Ability Works to co-create an Accessibility Toolkit, ensuring the program is inclusive.

Some social enterprises were also able to:

  • Identify and support employees with personal challenges they hadn’t been aware of before participating in the program.
  • Further recognise the value of including employees with lived experience in program design and implementation.

These and other factors have supported positive program experiences and outcomes in this second year of the program, such as:

  • 96% of employees reporting increased confidence in managing money;
  • 96% learning many new things;
  • 96% said the training provided clear and relevant examples; and
  • 100% found the training useful and understandable.
