Equestrian Youth Engagement Service (EYES)

The Equestrian Youth Engagement Service (EYES) helps at-risk youth re-engage with education, undertake work experience, gain employment, and avoid early school disengagement and criminal activity.

The program is delivered by the Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF) with support from Karla Kuliny Aboriginal Corporation and the WA horse industry.

The program offers training in basic safe horse handling skills, equine assisted leadership skills, career opportunities in the horse racing industry as well as practical life skills.

Winning the Sector Collaboration Award (2025 WA Youth Awards)

This inspiring collaboration supports justice-involved young people to reimagine positive and hopeful futures through equine-facilitated interventions, cultural mentorship, and strong support from the WA equestrian community.

The Centre for Social Impact UWA team partnered with them on their program logic, evaluation framework and capacity building with data collection.
