Dr Simone Casey

Dr Simone Casey is the Principal Research Fellow, Evidence at the Centre for Inclusive Employment, at CSI Swinburne .

Simone previously held a variety of roles in policy advocacy, research and communications in the employment services, community services and welfare sectors in Australia and the UK. Simone was a policy advisor at the employment services peak body Jobs Australia between 2004-2018, and worked closely with the disability employment services sector there and in roles supporting other organisations with tenders, grant writing and strategic development. Simone holds a PhD in employment services with a perspective informed by lived experience and is interested in the intertwinement of marketisation, welfare conditionality, unemployment and the integrity of social security administration.

She has written extensively in a research and policy capacity about the challenges people experience within the policy and contract environments. Simone calls herself "prac-ademic" because her interests are in strategically bridging the gap between practice and evidence, translating research insights into practical recommendations to advance employment or people with disabilities and other people for whom obtaining good quality work is challenging.
