Emma Barnes

Research Support Administrator

Emma Barnes is a Research Support Administrator at CSI UNSW.

She provides administrative and research support to the research team through the preparation of literature reviews, background enquiries and data analysis for a number of projects.

Emma has a strong focus on human rights and conducting research into social inequalities in Australia, in an effort to better understand how institutional and systemic structures impact on individuals, and what can be done to make a more equal and fair society.

She has a deep interest in the areas of homelessness and how evidence-based research can inform the ending and prevention of people experiencing homelessness. She is also passionate about providing the voice of lived experiences in research.

Emma has a Bachelor of Social Science (Sociology and Anthropology) with Honours. As part of her Honours thesis she conducted independent qualitative research into young people’s experiences in the Australian housing market.
