Professor Neville Crossman
An internationally recognized leader in environmental research and policy, Professor Crossman’s work centers on managing land, water, and biodiversity for social and economic benefit. His research focuses on understanding how sound environmental stewardship can enhance decision-making and investments in land and water resources, both in Australia and globally.
Throughout a 20-year career, Professor Crossman has contributed to the research, policy, and private sectors. This includes positions as a Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO (2005–2016), an international private consultant (2016–2018), and Lead Economist and Director of Social Economics at the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (2018–2024). Beyond Australia, he has provided leadership and expertise to high-level international bodies such as the United Nations, European Union, World Bank, and WWF, bridging the gap between science and policy in the management of land and water systems.
