Mark Ferraretto

Mark Ferraretto graduated with a BSc in Computer Science in 1989. He spent 25 years as an IT professional and consultant, working in wide variety of industries including education, banking and finance and airlines in both Australia and Hong Kong.

Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 2016 and was admitted to the SA Supreme Court in August 2017.

He joined Flinders University in 2019 and played a key role in establishing the curriculum for “Law in a Digital Age,” a course designed to equip law students with practical skills in developing legal software applications. After a period in private legal practice, Mr. Ferraretto returned to Flinders in 2023 as a Senior Lecturer, continuing to integrate legal technology into the curriculum.

In 2024, he founded the Digital Law Lab, a pioneering initiative that provides not-for-profit organizations with legal technology services to improve access to justice. Through the Lab, students gain hands-on experience developing, commissioning, and operating legal technology software for real clients, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world legal practice.

Beyond academia and legal practice, Mr. Ferraretto’s passion for aviation has seen him serve as a director of Recreational Aviation Australia Limited (2022–2024). He is an aircraft owner, holding both a current Recreational Pilot Certificate and an Unrestricted Private Pilot’s Licence, reflecting his commitment to broad-ranging professional and personal pursuits.
