Lydia Kilcullen

Dr Kilcullen began her career as a Chartered Accountant specialising in Corporate Recovery and Litigation Support with PwC in Perth, New York, and London before returning to Australia and joining the University of WA. During her time at UWA, she completed a PhD that investigated the needs of users of external financial reports for sustainability-related information. She also taught financial accounting, qualitative research methodology, and demonstrating social impact topics in post graduate programs at UWA Business School.
After leaving UWA in 2016, Lydia consulted in areas relating to demonstrating social impact, and in 2022, she joined Fortescue Ltd. In her current role at Fortescue, she manages the delivery of all sustainability-related disclosures, including meeting requirements under voluntary Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and emerging mandatory Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) on climate-related disclosures.
Lydia maintains her enjoyment of teaching by contributing to the Graduate Diploma: Demonstrating Social Impact at the UWA Centre for Social Impact. In this class, she explores current trends and practices in sustainability reporting with a focus on disclosures related to people, including employees and other workers, people in the communities connected to an entity, and those working within an entity's value chain.
Lydia is a current member of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Reference Group, which provides technical input to the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) members and staff for research and standard-setting projects. She recently completed a term with the Australian Sustainable Finance Institute (ASFI) Taxonomy Advisory Group on Minimum Social Safeguards as part of the development of an Australian sustainable finance taxonomy.
