Dr Madhan Balasubramanian

A transdisciplinary health systems and workforce researcher, Dr Balasubramanian has over 15 years of experience spanning healthcare management, public health, and advanced research methodologies. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles, contributed to three government reports, and successfully secured over $2 million in competitive research funding as a Chief Investigator. In addition to his role at CSI Flinders, Dr Balasubramanian is the Deputy Director of Health and Aged Care Management Programmes and serves as the Business Research Lead within the College of Business, Government, and Law, where he oversees research strategy, fosters interdisciplinary collaborations, and mentors both academic staff and HDR students.

Dr Balasubramanian completed his PhD at the University of Adelaide (2015) and was awarded a prestigious NHMRC Sidney Sax Fellowship, conducting research at the University of Sydney and King’s College London (2017–2021). He has also engaged in international research as an Endeavour Fellow in Geneva (2016) and as an Australia-India Council Fellow at the University of Queensland (2008–2009). His academic background includes a Masters of Health Service Management (Hons) from Griffith University and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he will be conferred Fellowship status by the Australian College of Health Service Management and the International College of Dentists in 2024.
