Amalia Watson

Amalia Watson (she/her) is a Research Assistant at the Centre for Social Impact UWA with a background in Literary Studies and Applied Human Geography. This combination has provided her with a strong understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research methods and data derivation; she has experience in the drafting of policy briefs, community engagement programs, briefing papers, visual outputs of spatial relationships (GIS), environmental impact assessments, systematic literature reviews, ESG reporting, and demographic and econometric analysis. Her Honours thesis examined the housing affordability crisis from a regional perspective, utilising a systematic literature review (PRISMA) to deduce the differences in housing dynamics and affordability drivers between metropolitan and regional localities. Her interests lie in exploring the interconnection of people and place, holding the belief that collaborative and innovative research must be used to translate knowledge and catalyse social change, particularly in pursuit of community wellbeing and resilience. Her multi-cultural background and lived experience of mental health further inform her commitment and approach to fostering research that is community-centred and socially just.
