Social Enterprise: A People-Centred Approach to Employment Services

The unemployment rate in Australia has declined in recent years. Yet, there is still a large proportion of Australians who are struggling to find and maintain consistent employment, due to complex barriers in participation, or requiring more personalised employment support services.

This report outlines why employment-focused social enterprises offer an alternative people-centred approach to mainstream employment solutions. They have found to produce higher employment outcomes than conventional employment services for people experiencing disadvantage.

Further, employment-focused social enterprises build capacity and create positive impacts for workers, and society as a whole. This research shows how they can create positive social change, as well as exploring the ways that their reach, success and impact can be scaled.
