With Australia having formally recognised the therapeutic potentials of at least two psychedelic substances, psychedelic-assisted treatments are poised to become a reality—an enormous shift in perspective given the "War on Drugs" legacy.

However, Indigenous healers long ago developed sophisticated methods of psychoactive plant use, and in this webinar we consider their relation to the emerging clinical context, with a focus on South America and possible intercultural exchanges.

Meet the speaker

Dr David O'Shaughnessy is an anthropologist at CSI UWA, specialising in mixed-methods research. His PhD research, based in Peru, was a biopsychosocial investigation of Indigenous psychoactive plants and their application to the treatment of addictions.
