Workshop content

  • Understand the principles of effective data storytelling and visualisation
  • Explore best-practice approaches for tailoring communication to different audiences
  • Explore various mediums and outlets to share your story
  • Learn how to engage with media to share your program’s outcomes
  • Learn how to combine quantitative and qualitative data to tell a holistic story of impact
  • Discover design strategies for clarity, accessibility, and engagement in charts, infographics, and reports
  • Incorporate storytelling frameworks (e.g., theory of change) into your communications
  • Practical tools and templates for reporting, dashboards, and communication plan

No experience in communications is required.

Facilitators

Lisette Kaleveld Lisette is a social researcher who has worked on research and evaluation projects conducted in academic/research contexts as well as for the not-for-profit sector, as a public servant and as an independent consultant. Lisette has led a significant number national, state-wide and locally based evaluation projects as the principal researcher/team leader, and has undertaken capacity building projects including facilitating training, tools and frameworks for community development officers to measure the impact of their work in local government. Lisette’s evaluation experience spans the mental health sector, education and disability sectors. Lisette is convener for the Australian Evaluation Society (WA Branch).

Nic Badullovich

Dr Nic Badullovich is a social scientist and Research Fellow at the Centre for Social Impact UWA. Nic's work focuses on science and climate change communication, which involves partnering with organisations, and employing quantitative and qualitative methods to ensure research delivers practical and social impact.

Carole Katz

Carole Katz is the Industry Engagement & Communications Adviser at the Centre for Social Impact UWA. With over 15 years of experience in communications and engagement, she has a proven track record delivering successful results and events for iconic Perth-based organisations, including Telethon Kids Institute, the Future of Work Institute at Curtin University and The University of Western Australia (UWA). To develop and implement effective communications strategies, Carole draws on her digital, creative and project management skills to raise brand profile, drive stakeholder engagement and deliver meaningful impact.
