Farida Fozdar

Farida Fozdar is an Associate Professor in Anthropology and Sociology at The University of Western Australia and teaches as part of the Graduate Certificate in Social Impact at the Centre for Social Impact UWA (CSI UWA) .

Farida teaches on social research methods, using examples from her range of experiences working in academic and NGO contexts. She also teaches in units on migration and cultural awareness.

Farida's research focuses on race relations and migrant settlement, citizenship, and issues to do with refugees and asylum seekers. She has published over one hundred articles and books exploring issues of inclusion and exclusion in relation to nationalism, postnationalism and cosmopolitanism, as well as mixed race.

She has undertaken evaluations for not-for-profits, and written submissions advising on policy in relation to racism, migration and nationalism.

Currently chair of UWA’s Cultural and Linguistic Diversity Working Group, Farida has also recently become one of UWA’s ‘Grand Challenges Champions’, looking at issues of social inclusion for a more just and equitable world.
