Shannen Vallesi

Shannen Vallesi is a Research Associate at the Centre for Social Impact UWA (CSI UWA) and the Institute for Health Research at the University of Notre Dame. Shannen is currently undertaking her PhD exploring the impact of chronic homelessness on health outcomes and health needs.
Shannen’s research is underpinned by a passion for reducing health inequalities through ‘real world’ relevant research, specifically around addressing disparities for some of the most disadvantaged people in Australia.
Her work primarily focuses on the impact of interventions addressing the complex and intertwined nature of homelessness, poor physical and mental health outcomes, and social exclusion.
Shannen co-leads the evaluation of Perth's first Housing First project, Zero Project , and various other health-led responses to ending homelessness.
