Charmaine Roberts

Charmaine Roberts is the National Strategy and Engagement Lead at the Centre for Social Impact.

Charmaine joined UNSW in April 2021, working on a range of strategic projects with the Faculties of Science and Medicine & Health, and the Office of the Provost. Her key responsibilities included developing and managing strategic priorities and projects in research and enterprise (such as the establishment of the UNSW RNA Institute), engagement, equity, diversity and inclusion and sustainability. Most recently she has been supporting UNSW’s review of its social impact priorities.

Prior to joining the tertiary education sector in Australia, Charmaine worked in the UK for a major medical research charity, looking after a range of strategy and research funding initiatives, policy developments and strategic research collaborations between universities, research institutes and funders in the UK, Europe and the US.

She also formerly practised law as a Senior Associate with Herbert Smith Freehills (in Sydney), and Kingsford Community Legal Centre.

She has a background in economics, corporate governance and law (BCom, LLB – UNSW).
