Adjunct Professor Abigail Powell

Adjunct Professor Abigail Powell continues her relationship with Centre for Social Impact UNSW from the University of Lincoln, UK, where she is the Professor of Sociology and Social Policy , in the College of Social Science and the Eleanor Glanville Centre.
Abigail previously worked at CSI UNSW in the position of Co-Research Director, alongside Associate Professor Gemma Carey, with a focus on developing CSI’s research stream around organisational governance, leadership, and workforce capacity in the social purpose sector.
Abigail has over 10 years’ experience as an academic researcher, and her research is underpinned by her passion for social justice and equality. Abigail is an experienced project manager and mixed methods researcher with expertise in gender diversity, work-life balance, young people, and social policy.
In Australia, Abigail has worked with industry, government, and NGOs, including research and evaluations for NSW Health, NSW Commission for Children and Young People, Beyond Blue, Headspace, Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Diversity Council Australia, and the Australian Human Rights Commission.
Prior to joining CSI, Abigail worked at the Social Policy Research Centre at UNSW and at Loughborough University in the UK. Abigail has a PhD in Social Sciences and an MA in Research Methods (Social Policy).
