A huge congratulations this week to our wonderful undergrad and postgrad students who competed in the Big Idea and have made it through to the finals!
Undergraduate team Bugisu Project and Postgraduate teams Flower2Empower and The Renewable House were all selected to participate at the Big Idea Finals in Melbourne to be held on December 4th and 5th. The Bugisu Project is circular economy coffee, partnering with coffee growers in Uganda and using profits to support local women farmers via microloans.
Flower2Empower is a disability employment and recycling project where flowers from weddings are recycled into paper, soaps, candles and other items, and the Renewable House is about making affordable housing from recycled plastics.
A total of 14 universities from across Australia participated in The Big Idea, and 13 undergraduate teams and 6 postgraduate teams competed in the semi finals. We were thrilled to hear that all 3 of our UNSW teams made it through.
Senior CSI Lecturer Dr Selena Griffith said, "We are so proud of the amazing projects the students have put forward and developed business plans for. They have worked in transdisciplinary collaborative teams from faculties across the university."
More to come!
