Distinguished Professor Jo Barraket

CSI Swinburne Director

University Distinguished Professor Jo Barraket is Director of the Centre for Social Impact Swinburne, which brings together the largest team of social economy researchers in the world.

A political sociologist with a focus on both public policy and organisational practice, Jo is Australia’s leading researcher of social enterprise and the wider social economy, and has additional research interests in digital inclusion and social innovation.

She leads multiple research projects on social enterprise and social procurement, and is a member of the Australian Digital Inclusion Index research team.

Jo has led more than more than $9.5 million in funded research in her areas of expertise, has more than 70 publications in these areas, and is a regular advisor to governments, practice leaders and philanthropy in her areas of expertise.
