Senior Lecturer and Course Authority
Michael Katz is a Senior Lecturer at CSI UNSW and the Course Authority for our undergraduate Work Integrated Learning (WIL) courses, COMM3020 Global Business Practicum – Tel Aviv, and COMM3030 Social Entrepreneurship Practicum – Big Idea, as well as the impact investment courses in CSI's post graduate programs.
Michael is passionate about providing students with educational experiences at the juncture between theory and practice, and facilitating challenging and nuanced learning outcomes. He implements this through both his teaching and contribution to UNSW's Bchelor of Commerce review as lead of the ‘authentic assessments’ team.
Michael also represents CSI on The Constellation Project with a focus on Mandatory Inclusionary Zoning (MIZ) where he is using his experience in community led planning and impact investment to help design a policy mechanism that can garner support from all stakeholders. The aim of this work is to contribute substantially to the supply of 100,000 affordable homes in the future, to help address homelessness in an equitable and sustainable way.
Michael combines his academic work with an active role in the private sector as an investor and director in several large scale impact projects which have a focus on urban renewal, renewable energy and waterless technology. He is passionate about working with multiple stakeholders to find win-win opportunities between social and financial outcomes.Back to Our People
