CSI Update: Issue 28

April 21, 2011

Message from Peter Shergold

I hope that you’ve noticed that we have recently launched our new website. This site has been significantly improved to make it easier for you to stay up to date with the latest news and knowledge from CSI. It builds strongly on the feedback you gave us last year in our stakeholder survey.
All CSI’s projects and initiatives are now sorted by ten focus areas within the field of 'social impact’. And what a wealth of material now exists. We have over 75 videos, 16 podcasts, 50 publications and 30 blog posts on the website, so please check out what’s new and visit our Knowledge Centre for the latest multi-media content. A big thanks to Mei-Ling Ho, Sarah Uther, Andrew Kos and the team at Harvest The Net for an amazing job in developing the site.

A number of you have commented that I’m keeping busy right now! Most recently it’s been announced that I will become the part-time chair of the Board that will over-sight a new NSW Public Service Commission. I hope that I can contribute to building a strong, professional, nonpartisan and effective public sector – and one which will recognise the need to work collaboratively with the community sector in delivering services to citizens.

Finally, welcome to the new Vice-Chancellor and President of our partner, Swinburne University of Technology. Professor Linda Krisjanson has a strong academic career in medical research. She has also held The Cancer Council of Western Australia’s Chair of Palliative Care and served on the Board of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute. We look forward to working with her.
