Australia's first MBA (Social Impact) helping forge next generation of changemakers

A new MBA being offered by AGSM @ UNSW Business School is set to provide an innovative, strong platform for Australia’s emerging and established leaders in the field of social impact.

The Centre for Social Impact (CSI) has partnered with the AGSM (Australian Graduate School of Management) to launch the new MBA (Social Impact) .

The first of its kind in Australia, this specialised MBA is part of a new suite of online MBA programs launched by AGSM collectively known as “MBAX” and includes MBA (Change) and MBA (Technology).

It aims to develop key management skills and a deep understanding of how participants can create real social impact.

“The program is suitable for participants from all sectors, whether it’s the not for profit, government or corporate sector, and it builds upon the traditional MBA subjects with six social impact courses,” said CSI Chief Executive Dr Andrew Young.

“We believe that a good social system requires strong leadership from people who have the tools and skills to make change happen. Our MBA (Social Impact) is designed to fill that gap: we’re creating the next generation changemakers.”

AGSM Director, Professor Julie Cogin said: “With MBAX we've designed a program that allows participants to seize the greatest opportunities in front of them. We're delighted to be working with CSI to build an outstanding cohort of passionate individuals who can enhance each other’s learning experience and make a real difference in the world."

The MBA (Social Impact) builds on six traditional MBA courses to include subjects focused on social impact. These specialised courses include: Entrepreneurs and Social Innovation, Corporate Responsibility and Accountability, Demonstrating Social Impact, Social Investment and Philanthropy, Leadership, Collaboration for Social Impact, and Social Impact Field Project.
