Looking for a great fair trade coffee and organic treats made with locally grown produce? Want to help support disadvantaged youth and social services in the Campbelltown area? Visit Sydney’s newest social enterprise, Café Kulcha.
CSI’s Director of Social Business, Cheryl Kernot, will help launch Cafe Kulcha this Friday, 24 February.
“It’s inspiring to see an enterprise that is able to ‘do good’ in so many ways; through its supply chain, through employment and training opportunities, the services it provides and by helping to fund other programs in the community,” said Cheryl.
The cafe is run by the Macarthur Diversity Services Initiative (MDSI) and provides not only ethical coffee, tasty food and catering services, but will also offer on the job training and barista experience for young people. One of the cafe’s key clients for its catering services is the MDSI aged care day programs.
Café Manager Maureen Lonergan said: “It will be exciting to see the growth of this unique project and the great things it will do for the local community.
“With our passionate barista and highly experienced chef, we are sure that we could provide a great training environment and have people leaving us having gained some very useful professional skills, as well as an ethical awareness,” she said.
Profits from the cafe will go back in to MDSI to fund programs for the community. Café Kulcha is located on Level 1 of the City Centre Arcade, 171-179 Queen Street, Campbelltown. |
