Opening access for the deaf

CSI donor Tony Abraham, Chief Executive of Access Innovation Media (Ai-Media), has launched a new venture which offers training and career opportunities in speech captioning. The venture is called Ai-Skills will train and accredit speech captioners to provide real time access to deaf and hearing impaired children and adults.

The one-week training program is offered for a modest fee, with the initial training course taking place in Sydney in October, with sessions in other states to follow. Trained captioners will be able to work from anywhere in Australia with access to a telephone land-line and broadband.
